This light Cucumber Dill Greek Yogurt Salad recipe will surprise you at how easy it is. It’s super tasty too!
A local sandwich shop serves a cucumber dill salad that I just crave. I always feel like I’m choosing a healthy side when I order it. It is mostly cucumber after all. In an attempt to recreate it at home, I gave them a call to see what the creamy base was made out of it, hopeful that it was something healthy. The sweet lady told me that it was cole slaw dressing. Mayonnaise. Durn. Not that I don’t like mayonnaise. I do. I like it very much. But bathing suits don’t like it very much.
Instead of caving to the mayo, I used my typical cole slaw dressing ingredients, substituting 0% fat plain greek yogurt for the mayonnaise to create a lightened up version of this crunchy favorite. I was delighted to this Cucumber Dill Greek Yogurt Salad mighty tasty! Crunchy, refreshing, and light … what’s not to love?
As I mentioned, this cucumber salad is easy peasy. Begin by peeling the cucumbers. Then cut them in half and use a spoon to remove the seeds. The seeds water the salad down quite a bit. Finally, slice the cucumber halves. Next, mix up the simple dressing. Whisk together the yogurt, dried dill, vinegar, sugar, salt, black pepper and garlic powder. Add the cucumber slices and toss to coat. That’s it!
This Cucumber Dill Greek Yogurt Salad will be a new summer go-to for cookouts and picnics around here for sure. And I’m thinking it will be perfect for a cool afternoon snack too. Try this one soon!

I love greek yogurt. I use it in place of sour cream and mayonnaise for almost all recipes. I think I would LOVE this salad. It sounds perfect for summer!
This looks great and super refreshing!
For as long as I can remember my mother has made a salad like this. She keeps the seeds in and slices thinly, though. Delicious recipe!
This sounds like a perfect summer salad! Can’t wait to make it!
Oh yes, Amy! This looks like a perfect salad for summer and anytime!
When it gets hot outside, I start craving cucumber. I love dill and Greek yogurt, too, so I’d say this is making an appearance in our house very, very soon!
This is the perfect hot weather side dish…just imagining it now. YUM!!!
Also I am pretty sure the cucumber cancels out the mayo. SO, you’re good.
I am just now getting to the point that I like cucumbers – this sounds amazing!
I love cucumber salad. Love the spin with Greek yogurt, Amy! Have a lovely weekend!
It’s kind of like Tzatziki Dip in salad form. Yum!
This was delish. I agree that peeling & seeding cukes is the right way to go, otherwise it will be too watery. My only suggestion is to mix dressing in bowl you’re going to keep it in, then just add cukes & mix. Less dishes 🙂
I have everything for this and I must make it today!
Amy, this sounds fabulous! Love cucumbers & dill!
Fresh dill?
Hello SJ!
Chopped fresh dill should work fine. I’d add a little at a time, tasting to see how much you like.
Beautiful summer salad and photography, Amy! xo
When I lost all my stuff in a move it included my Recipe book for all recipes I had made myself. Never thought I would ever find it again, but it is THE exact same recipe. I generally don’t take out the seeds, though, but even that looks great. Thanks!
I’d use the full-fat Fage Greek Yogurt. According to my nutritionist, the fat in food does not make you fat – it’s the sugars. Low-fat foods have more sugar. Fats in foods like Greek yogurt are healthy fats. Real mayo is also healthy, provided it’s made with healthy fats cold-pressed oil (not soy or canola). Don’t be afraid of the fats.
Can you add virgin cold pressed olive oil instead of vinegar, since I’m allergic to vinegar?
Why would you seed the cucumbers? The soft seeds are 100% heathy and tasty to eat. This does not comprend to me.
I left the seeds in when I made this salad and it got watery over night…wasn’t nearly as good
I also thinly slice red onion in it and a pinch of dry mustard…I know that sounds strange but I just needed to have something with that omg what was that lol
Was looking for a recipe for cucumber salad for recently discovered Armenian cucumbers from our local “pick your own” farm. This will be perfect, thank you. Love that it is simple, minimal and so refreshing looking.
