Visit any kitchen store and you can find an overwhelming assortment of pots, pans and paraphernalia. Usually amongst the mix, you’ll find a few gems, a few necessary items that no kitchen should do without. One of which is a good Dutch Oven.
A Dutch Oven is a heavy-duty pot with a tight fitting lid usually made of cast iron or ceramic. They conduct heat evenly and can be used in the oven or stovetop. Dutch Ovens are perfect for stewing, roasting, and braising. We regularly use one for roasting chicken, braising pork, or for savory beef roasts, just to name a few. It’s a workhorse in the kitchen that I’d surely miss if it ever ran away.Do you own a Dutch Oven or two? If not, now is your chance because I’m giving away a Lodge 6-Quart Enameled Cast Iron Dutch Oven in Island Spice Red to one winner. Woo hoo!
It’s easy to enter, just leave a comment below sharing what you would make with a bright new shiny red Dutch Oven. Will it be a beef stew, a roasted turkey breast, or maybe you’ve been waiting to try out Julia Child’s Boeuf Bourguignon? Whatever you’re planning, you’ll be set to go with a new Dutch Oven.

Lovely! I think Jambalaya would be perfect in this Dutch oven 🙂
I would make pot roast! Welcome, Fall!
Soups/stews, lentils, roasts.
Winter is coming on so I’m thinking cold and cuddly. I would make homemade potato soup with bacon and cheese. Sounds scrumptious.
Eventually, I’d make soup and apple butter and lots of stuff. The first thing I’d do, though, is bake some crusty sourdough bread – yum!
I’d love to make some soups and casseroles! I’ve never had a dutch oven before but hear often about how great they are.
That pot is perfect for a whole lot of my favorite butternut squash soup!
Winter Pot Roast!
Hmmm. I’m thinking something cheesy, with chicken and rice. Some spicy Mexican food. Yum!
A wonderful Pot Roast…yummy!!
I would try cook Dutch Oven Cornbread with Fig Jam.

I’ll start with a lovely loaf of bread. I’ve always wanted to bake one in a Dutch oven.
I also would give it to my husband, who is a great cook. He would cook some boneless skinless thighs. Yummy!
I would make my new soup recipe!! Just in time for Fall!
Ham-n-Beans! Duh……
I would make butternut squash risotto!
The best beef stew ever!
Stew or baked beans would be awesome!
Would love to make some yummy chicken corn chowder.
