Chocolate Whole Wheat Waffles Recipe
These whole wheat waffles are delicious treat for breakfast, brunch or bressert!
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup butter
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1/4 cup dark cocoa powder
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
Instructions
- In a large bowl whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and sugar.
- In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Whisk in the cocoa powder until smooth. Whisk in milk and allow to warm slightly.
- Stir melted butter/chocolate/milk mixture into the flour mixture. Stir in beaten egg until just combined. The batter will be a bit lumpy.
- Heat waffle iron and cook waffles according to waffle iron instructions.
