Visit any kitchen store and you can find an overwhelming assortment of pots, pans and paraphernalia. Usually amongst the mix, you’ll find a few gems, a few necessary items that no kitchen should do without. One of which is a good Dutch Oven.
A Dutch Oven is a heavy-duty pot with a tight fitting lid usually made of cast iron or ceramic. They conduct heat evenly and can be used in the oven or stovetop. Dutch Ovens are perfect for stewing, roasting, and braising. We regularly use one for roasting chicken, braising pork, or for savory beef roasts, just to name a few. It’s a workhorse in the kitchen that I’d surely miss if it ever ran away.Do you own a Dutch Oven or two? If not, now is your chance because I’m giving away a Lodge 6-Quart Enameled Cast Iron Dutch Oven in Island Spice Red to one winner. Woo hoo!

I would definitely make Hungarian chicken.
I would have to agree with Molly. Kevin is the best cook in the family and he would combine the best of the best of any recipe and make it better! But growing up on a good pot roast, I’d have to use for that sometimes!
I would make some of my simmer all day white chicken chili in this… yum yum!
Oh, I could see a large pot of beer braised beef stew simmering in my oven and filling the house with tantalizing smells. Yum, yum!
Pot roast for sure
I would make Ree Drummond’s Perfect Pot Roast. Thanks for the giveaway!
I have so many things I would love to make in the Dutch oven. I think the first thing I would make is a Dutch oven bread recipe is saw and then a big pot of chili.

I would love to try white beans with sage and tomatoes!
I would make my “Easy Oven Stew.” We also call it “Witches Stew.” When we make for our dinner on Haloween.
You cook it in the oven for five hours and it makes it’s own gravy. Perfect for Fall.
Beef Stoganoff . I’ve had it cooked in a Dutch Oven and it was so good.

My mom’s chicken and dumplings recipe
Actually, I love making Mexican Rice in a dutch oven. So amazing!

Roast. Beef Roast. Pork Roast. Elk Roast. Roasted Chicken…. Yum!
Love the color of the dutch oven. I would make stews for the fall with it.
