Add some healthy color to your day with this delicious Blueberry Smoothie recipe.

Blueberry Smoothie

It seems like every year, we rethink our healthy lifestyle habits. We read about what foods are good to eat. We hit the gym a little more. We drink a bit more water. We try to go to bed earlier. Don’t we? We all do those things, right? Well, we do over here. And every year I look back and see what healthy habits made it through the year and which ones bit the dust before January 31 hit.

What we have both learned is that little changes that we can stick with are the best. It’s not rocket science. We do what we can manage and maintain. A few healthy changes in our food choices make a big difference over the course of a year, much less a lifetime. More activity, even a little more, added into our routine can not only help us lose some pounds, but also help our sleep and our emotional state. That said, I cling to recipes that offer that precious combo of easy + tasty + healthy. Not that those are the only things we eat. All in moderation, right? Every now and then, we crave a hamburger and some french fries. We do. But if we can find a way to create a balance with healthier options the rest of the time, we can enjoy the hamburger and french fries every now and then.

I ramble.

Thankfully Randy and I both have a penchant for smoothies which helps to balance things. For breakfast or lunch, and sometimes even dinner, we can whip one up in no time with healthful combinations that are totally satisfying. Sometimes they are so good it feels like we’re cheating. Plus, when it comes to colorful food, a bright perky smoothie is hard to beat.

This Blueberry Smoothie isn’t only colorful but it’s packed with healthy ingredients too so you can be happy about the color as well as what’s in it. Blueberries, almond milk, almond butter, greek yogurt and pinch of cinnamon all come together to make this fabulous smoothie. Quickly toss all the ingredients in a blender and puree until smooth. So easy! Sometimes calories for smoothies can quickly add up, but not this one. For the recipe below, the whole amount, (a 16 ounce serving—a mega smoothie size) is only 263 calories! And that’s a big meal-sized smoothie. Imagine half of one of these smoothies as a snack for a low 132 calories? A crazy good choice is what it would be.
