Basil Pesto Hummus Recipe
This Basil Pesto Hummus is a terrifically tasty dip, spread or salad dressing.
In our home, every day is a hummus day. You can usually find a tub or two that we keep stocked on hand for snacks, a light lunch, or for use as a salad dressing. It’s one of our favorite foods. Hummus is not only delicious as a healthy dip option but is fabulous for adding to many recipes.
Basil Pesto is also one of our favorite foods, so what happens when you combine two favorite foods? Magic, that’s what. Fresh flavorful magic. I whipped up a Basil Pesto Hummus which I think is just perfect for serving atop grilled chicken or tossed with pasta. Of course you can enjoy it as a dip too. Crunchy cucumber, or crispy toasted pita breads is excellent for dipping with this pesto hummus. This would be a nice colorful addition to any summer BBQ or picnic.
This Basil Pesto Hummus couldn’t be easier to make. Combine equal parts of basil pesto and a classic hummus, like Sabra’s* Classic Hummus. A classic hummus works great for this recipe. Sabra also makes a Lemon Twist Hummus that is so fresh and bright. It’s a nice combination with the basil pesto too. As far as the pesto, you can make your own fresh basil pesto or use prepared. I can’t wait for the basil in our garden to get going. Fresh basil pesto is so hard to beat and if you’ve ever made it at home, you know how very easy it is to make. And even easier to eat! Once the pesto and hummus is mixed together, serve it right away or store covered in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
