An itty bitty nest.

Because my eyes may not be able to take it much longer, and because I love ya like a sistah, or a brother, or an aunt, or just a real swell friend, here’s another itty bitty nest drawing giveaway.
As I’ve mentioned before, my eyes are fading fast, so I haven’t picked up a drawing pen in quite a while. I hate to even admit it, but the last winner, Kim, who happens to be a local friend, has yet to see her nest yet. I’ve never been so slack, except for that time in the third grade when I totally forgot about doing a book report, and got in big time trouble. And maybe a few other times here and there.
But I’m getting to it tomorrow. I promise Kim. I am. It’s on my to do list… as soon as I find my reading glasses.
They’re teeny y’all, so give me a break. The actual nest size is about 3″ wide. Each drawing is different from the next, no copies involved, original size – no reducing. So, while it’s not a priceless work of art, it’s real. It’s drawn with love, from my heart to yours, and every ounce of nearsightedness I can muster. And it will likely be the last one I ever do. But I will do it. That’s a guarantee.
Anyway, one (1) winner will be randomly chosen to win a framed nest drawing, customized with the number of eggs desired. The eggs represent your little chicks, your sister’s little chicks, your mama’s little chicks, a friend’s little chicks, or that lady that helped you pick out the perfect size of Spanx little chicks – whatever chick you choose chicks.
Of course that is within reason. The largest amount of eggs I’ve ever drawn in a nest is seven. I guess there’s always the possibility of a nest condo.
All you have to do to enter is answer a question. Simple. Here ’tis… Even though they’re flying south for the winter, what is your favorite bird? Is it a blue bird? A flamingo? A chicken? Or are you freaky scared of birds?
Just leave a comment (1 entry per person please) between today, Wednesday, October 20, 2010 and Monday, October 25, 2010 at Midnight PST. The winner will be announced sometime on Tuesday, October 26, 2010, so be sure to check back.
Happy fall y’all!
such a sweet drawing! i’d have to say that my favorite birds are hummingbirds – love watching them zoom around the yard.
cardinals – only because my great-grandmother loved them, and they always remind me of her.
I love all the birds that visit my garden, but I think my favorite bird is the Great Blue Heron. It has a special majesty, soaring along the shoreline, but it is also has a prehistoric look. I always feel lucky when I see one.
Your little nest is beautiful!
I was thinking about your little nest drawings yesterday. The last one? Sniff.
My chances are probably slim since I won the last giveaway, but I couldn’t resist trying to win this beautiful drawing. (My eyesight is failing fast. It started at 45 and gets worse everyday. Yuck.)
My favorite bird is the male peacock. I don’t like their temperament. You can’t beat the beautiful feather display though. Eastern bluebirds are next. I guess I’m partial to blue.
I love birds. Our feeder attracts so many different varieties and I don’t know what they are. When we were raking leaves last Sunday the trees were full of a certain kind with the most beautiful song but we don’t know what they were.
Love your drawing Amy. Know right where to put it if I’m the lucky one.
I think it could be a Cardinal. I’ve never seen one in real-life (we don’t have them here,) but they’re so elegant & regal. Their color is amazing!
I love Hummingbirds!
Your little nest is so cute! *crossing fingers*
I love seeing the yellow finches outside my house in the summertime.
YOU are so talented. Really, in so many ways. I really want a home-cooked meal in your home! BUT … I’d love to win the nest. I’d say owls have always, always, always fascinated me. Paul and I will go into the hot tub at nighttime and there are sometimes 2 owls that will talk to each other. They are SO cool. We’ve seen white owls fly across our backyard, too, and hope and pray our white kitty doesn’t get scooped up!
Lovely! Thanks Amy!
My favorite kind of birds are a tie between blue birds and cardinals. They were the first birds my grandparents taught me how to recognize.
Blue Jays. Beautiful birds and smart but……. really noisy!
I’d love to win one of these special works of art! I’d have you fill it with the eggs of my favorite bird – the cardinal.
I am a little freaked out by birds, but these little fat birds that come around here in the winter called Cedar Waxwings are pretty darn cute.
So many birds mentioned above that I love; some that I’ve only seen at zoos and many I’ve enjoyed at bird feeders in my yard. Cardinals in the south and beautiful bluebirds, goldfinches and the adorable chickadee in Denver. But my most favorite ever? A house wren. Yep…sounds boring, but that’s it…anything but. I first noticed this itty bitty bird on my fence one day because of the sound; probably the sweetest bird call I’ve ever heard. So I was so excited when I saw it fly into a bird house I had attached to a tree you can see from my kitchen window.
I’ve truly never enjoyed a bird more…so little and yet what a beautiful sound; sort of reminded me of my daughter Emily. Though not little but always a bit shy, happy to stay in the background and not make a fuss or have people notice her but when she opens her mouth to sing? It is quite simply the most moving experience; that girl can break your heart with how beautiful her voice is. So that house wren was even named and Emily and I spent some sweet mornings together before the family was born and they all flew away.
Bluebirds. We have a couple who build a nest several times a year in our bluebird house. I just love watching the happy couple build their sweet home for their little ones.
A chickadee. For such a small bird, they have a lot of sass.
I think my favorite birds are the rose-breasted grosbeaks. Mr. Grosbeak is the one with the rose colored spot on his breast while Mrs. Grosbeak has coloring similar to a sparrow, BUT she has quite dramatic eyeliner which makes her quite glamorous to me. We don’t see them very often, in fact, never any more since I began caring for three feral cats and I stopped filling the bird feeders. No use in providing an avian banquet when kitty crunchers and mousies are available.
So many incredible birds, so hard to choose a favorite. Because they stick around our parts for the winter, I’ll pick hummingbirds.
A hummingbird is my favorite. I love watching them zooming back and forth gathering nectar from the flowers. We used to have one the nested in one of our trees and sometimes we could see it’s eggs. So great!
Eagles are my favorite. Their habits can teach us good character lessons.
