A Recycled Garden Shed

On a recent trip to Linden Hill Gardens in Bucks County, PA, I fell head over heels for these garden sheds. The rustic buildings have such character and I think blend perfectly into a garden environment. We’ve been casually talking about building a garden shed for storage, as well as a place for potting, and other garden piddling things.
This one is my favorite.
It’s constructed of reclaimed wood, doors, and windows. Each side of the shed is different.
Each side with it’s own story.
Probably reclaimed from old homes or barns. The best form of recycling. Beyond cool.
I can imagine a similar one tucked quite nicely into our garden with vines and other plantings making it feel right at home. Of course since returning home my wheels have been turning on how to incorporate a similar shed into our landscaping. I’ve been working on persuading Randy how this would make a perfect fall/winter project (or my Christmas present).
We have a variety of salvage companies in our area. Should make for some fun shopping huh? Glad I have a truck. We’ll have to get a slab poured, and hire out for basic framing, but I think we’ll be able to handle the rest of the labor. I’ll keep you posted on the progress if it comes to fruition. I’m sure hoping it does.

Garden shed garden shed wherefore art thou, garden shed?
I have been asking for a garden shed for two years since i have to traipse thru field and fauna pushing the wheelbarrow with a flat tire, only to realize once i get there that I have forgotten something!
Well, what I got instead from my ingenious husband was the cutest chicken coop in the world for the 6 babies that he surprised me with in April. Surprise surprise! Did I ask for chicks or a tractor coop made from leftover hardie plank and shaker shingles? Was I craving fresh chicken manure for my compost pile? No… but since then, Elvira, Matilda, Cloe, Pretty Mama, chickabee, and Nelly B. have given us a bird’s eye view of the fun of yard fowl and we hope to be surprised again with fresh eggs in a month or so. Golf balls are in the nest to coax some egg laying longings. Photos to follow. If i can figure out how to do that.
Love this…and it’s so close. I may just plan a field trip. The other day I saw a wall made out of old doors…started thinking a shed made out of salvaged doors would be pretty amazing too. Hmm, now to get remodeling hubby on it.

I love these sheds as well. Every time we are driving out in the country I want to stop and throw one in the back of the car – not literally. 😉 Would be gorgeous as a guest house as well. We just drove through Oregon and there are abandoned ones all along the highway, I was in visual heaven!!

Hi Amy. Thanks for the wonderful idea. We have a huge backyard and garden. Apart from drinking coffee on our wired chairs, I know our garden deserves a lot more. This garden shed has sparked my desire in me. My husband is going to have his hands full for the winter. Ha-ha!
