Spring is officially here! Not only have I been pining for a bit of a change in the weather, but also a change in flavors. Even though I enjoy the warm comfort foods that get us through the bleak winter months, there’s nothing quite like fresh berries and fruit to put a perk in your step.
So when I stumbled across this Blueberry Lemon Buttermilk Cake over at Tasty Kitchen I knew I had to give it a go. It’s a simple cake full of fresh lemony flavor and blueberries. The buttermilk gives it extra moisture. This one will be filed away for a regular go to for sure.
And like most everything I do in the kitchen, it’s easy and quick to put together. Check out the full recipe tutorial.
While you’re there take a look around. You’ll find bunches of recipes fitting for a change in the season at Tasty Kitchen.
Do you have any favorite spring time favorite dessert to share? I’ve got my list ready.
Happy Spring! And happy baking too!
Looks divine!
I have the same plate! Seriously! I couldn’t help but notice it underneath of your decadent cake. Your photographs are inspiring too, the light on those blueberries as the fold into the batter is gorgeous.
This is such a beautiful cake. It’s perfect for spring but I think i’ll make it even though snow is on the way…
I love how this cake has that bottom layer of blueberries. It looks so different, and is visually stunning!
This looks like a mighty fine cake for spring.
Those blueberries look amazing
Oh wow, Amy, does that look delicious! Wonderful photos. I can practically taste the cake from here! Thanks for sharing your recipe and inspiring me for spring. 🙂
This cake looks SO good. I love the blueberries on the bottom!
Heavenly! Now if only spring would get here!!
I just saw this cake on Foodgawker. I also just put this finished cake on my countertop to cool. Yes, I made this wonderful smelling cake this afternoon. So easy to pull together. And I love the small size of this dessert. I don’t like recipes that will feed an army when it’s just the two of us at home. Thanks for a great recipe!!
Oh I need that!!
That looks so moist and delicious! I adore the combination of lemon and blueberries.
Yay! Found your recipe on ThePioneerWoman.com and tried it this morning with yogurt instead of buttermilk and frozen berries instead of fresh blueberries (they are prohibitively expensive here!). It worked out GREAT! Thank you, I’ll be coming back for more.
This is just the kind of cake I want to welcome spring in. If I make it, will it come?
Those blueberries and the cake are screaming Spring. Love it!
This looks great, but where is the actual recipe?
Hey Rebecca!
There’s a link to the recipe over at Tasty Kitchen in the post. Did you see it?

Amy, that looks divine! You can find a cake for just about any occasion on Tasty Kitchen. It’s a great resource.
Oh wow I totally love that layer of fruit on the bottom, amazing!
This looks and sounds wonderful. My daughter picked out a non-traditional wedding cake – lemon with blackberry cream filling. There was none left. None. That would have to be a favorite combination of mine since then.
I usually can’t wait for summer and strawberries for my favorite desserts. I’m going to have to share my Great Aunt Francis’ Strawberry Banana Pie soon.
Did I just spell her name Francis? Sorry, it’s Frances, of course. She was my great aunt not my great uncle.
