Say “Hello,” Jake! Whuz up dawg!
This dog, I know he looks cute but don’t let him fool ya. He’s sneaky and tricky, and up until a few months back, he’d been the bane of my life. He’s a year and a half now and has settled quite a bit – thank the Lord.
He joined our family when he was 3 months old, about 6 months after we moved into our brand spanking new, no scratches, no scuffs, no dings, no bite marks house.
He proved to set us straight on this just being a house. Just a house, nothing more. Kinda like when you get a new car and you keep it clean and park far away from everything to protect it, until that first ding. Then it’s just any other car. Just a car used to get from A to B.
Well, Jake was our ding maker. As well as scratcher, digger, chewer … you get the lovely picture don’t you? Up until then I had been obsessing about everything being kept new looking and clean. I had a lesson to learn, I guess. And my teacher came in the shape of this big lug of a pooch.
Anyway, this is what I wanted to share with you today. This is what we get to look at daily around our house. You see, Jake likes to chill and relax around here…
and here…
and here… Put a robe on or something, Jake – geeez!
We should’ve expected it. He started out young chillin’ in the hizzy.
I guess we’ll keep him – scratches, dings and all.
I love your dog. I have two chocolate one’s that sleep just like him. Good thing my house came with a few scratches and dings because I didn’t have to worry about all the things they’ve gotten into!
So thrilled to have found you…welcome to this surreal world of blogging. You are my kind of gal…many hats I wear as well. (and I do this really funny skit when I speak at moms events that ends up with me piling up the 6-8 hats I talk about. 🙂
Hide the vaccumn cleaner.
LOVE him! Too cute.
Your writing and photos reminder me a little bit of The Pioneer Woman. You’ve got a great thing started here dear 🙂
Thanks Kristen!
Reminder me… geez… back to spelling school for me!
Handsome dog.
Poor Sam! He needs his day. Jake’s pictures are great!
Amy,
I know, I should introduce everyone to him at some time – maybe before and after pictures of his haircuts? Thanks for the encouragement!

Just like our Lab, Luma. She sleeps like that all the time. Our other Lab, Pompey, never did. Pompey is older and our “living carpet”! Can’t wait until Luma get to that point!!!
