When the weather turns hot, beat the heat and reach for a cool refreshing (and light on the calories) Watermelon Coconut Slushie.
Hot weather calls for cool refreshing drinks by the bucket load. This easy frozen Watermelon Coconut Slushie Recipe answers that call just perfectly. And it couldn’t be quicker to blend up. Plus, not only is it refreshing, but it’s pretty light on the calorie end of things too. Another healthy benefit is that coconut water and watermelon are both so very good for hydrating, which makes this a fantastic drink to serve to kids that have been playing out in the heat or that active athlete that needs some extra fluids without all of the extra junk and preservatives that can be found in many sports drinks.
These summery Watermelon Coconut Slushies are so easy to make. Add some fresh watermelon, coconut water, a bit of sugar (if desired), and crushed ice to a blender then blend it right up. It’s such a colorful drink! Wouldn’t it be so pretty to serve for a cookout or picnic? Or maybe a baby shower? Just add a cute paper umbrella and maybe a fun straw too and you’re all ready to party with these Watermelon Coconut Slushies!
A few Watermelon Coconut Slushie Recipe notes:
- To partially prepare ahead, blend together watermelon, coconut water and sugar and keep refrigerated until ready to add ice and blend for a frozen version.
- If a blender isn’t handy, use a fork to mash up the watermelon, then just shake or stir all ingredients together for a version on the rocks.
- When shopping for coconut water, we look for pure coconut water without anything added—just coconut water.
- Although a good ripe watermelon is sweet enough on it’s own, if extra sweetness is desired add a little granulated sugar to preferred sweetness, or sweeten with honey that has been whisked together with a bit of warm water.
