With the holiday gift-giving season just around the corner, I’m trying to begin making my list and hunting down some of the items to spread out the spending a bit. The last few years I’ve waited until the last minute. Hopefully this year won’t be the same. So, you can imagine how happy I was to hear from the nice folks at UncommonGoods.com about sponsoring a gift-giving idea post AND giveaway too.
Do you know about UncommonGoods.com? It’s a great site for unusual and interesting treasures—the perfect place for gift ideas. UncommonGoods.com is independently owned and supports many artists, designers, and small businesses through the products offered at their site. I enjoyed reading about their company and the UncommonGoods Mission Statement is one I’m sure most would hope for in a workplace. Pretty cool.
UncommonGoods.com generously offered to let me shop for an item of my choice. That wasn’t the easiest thing to do. With a huge selection like they offer of unique items, it took me a bit to choose something. I decided on the Embroidered State Pillow. My husband is originally from North Carolina, that’s where we met during college, and both of our children were born there, so I ordered the NC pillow.
When it arrived we were all tickled. It’s so quaint and charming. All the embroidery was done by hand. I do love hand-made touches, don’t you? Many of the products you’ll find at UncommonGoods.com have hand-made touches, with wonderful stories explaining the items. Others are just creative and unique ideas that make me wish I would’ve thought of it first.
The embroidery on the pillow features different popular attractions and special characteristics about North Carolina, from the home of famous author, Thomas Wolfe, the historical pirate-y coast, to Boone, named after Daniel Boone, which is where we met. Maybe I’ll add a little embroidered heart there above the Daniel Boone head, and left of the sweet potato? 😉 I think that it’s going to be such a fun pillow to have around and will make a nice family heirloom that our kids will probably fight over. I probably should plan on getting another for each of them when they graduate or get married. Good idea, huh?
I kinda lose track of time when I visit the UncommonGoods.com site. They have such a great variety. I discovered the perfect gift for many of the people on my list, and have already ordered a couple of other items:
State Dish Towels, in both North and South Carolina.
Then I saw this: Water Pebble
Are you kidding me? Genius!!!We have a certain family member who will be receiving this for her birthday very soon. I sure hope it works. It needs to work.
I’ll let you know if it does.
A few other things caught my eye and have me thinking about certain people on my list:
iPhone Charger Sticker Face to correctly mark and identify chargers. Who couldn’t use these? I know we can. Fun!
A Mustachifier!
The cuteness is killing me.
Okay … you could say I went a little overboard with what I jotted down for ideas for my list. I won’t be purchasing all of these things, but here are more of my favorites (the giveaway details follow):
Did you see that DJ cat thingy? I wish I still had a cat.
And a password book? I so need that thing.
From offbeat and unusual, to quaint and charming, like our new pillow, you’re sure to find something for someone (if not many) on your list. UncommonGoods.com has organized their site very well, with a special section dedicated to Christmas Gifts: UncommonGoods Christmas Gift Ideas.
Be sure to check it out, especially the stocking stuffer section. So many fun things to find!
