A few of our favorite soup and stew recipes.
Waiting on cooler temperatures has been a lesson in patience for me. Not only does cooler weather mean snuggly sweaters, colorful leaves, crispness in the air, but it means it’s time for warm soups and stews, the kind that fills the home with those comforting aromas we all know. We have a few favorite soup and stew recipes here that we’ll cozy up to in the next couple of weeks.
My daughter’s favorite, White Bean Chicken Chili, so simple and easily adjusted to what you have on hand. Make a big batch and freeze some for later.
Sweet Potato Soup w/ Walnut Pesto. A combination of white beans and sweet potatoes make this a hearty and healthy option.
Italian Style Garbanzos with Sausage. This isn’t a soup per se, but I’m planning on making it one with the addition of more tomatoes and a vegetable or beef stock. Drooling just thinking about it.
And of course, soups and stews wouldn’t be complete without a friend. Give these Cheddar Jalapeño Cornbread Muffins a try – you won’t be sorry!
And there’s more!

I am so excited for soup/stew season! Come on cold weather! (but not too cold) 🙂
I love soup and stew after the summer fare. My husband would love the Italian Style Garbanzos with Sausage. Can’t wait to try it. It needs to get a little cooler around here first, though. 😉
We love soup – so glad it is getting cooler!
I am SO READY for soup season!! Bring on the sweaters, crisp air & hearty bowls of steamy goodness!
As the weather gets cooler I make more soups and these recipes look great. Thanks.
They all look so amazing!! Nothing better than a big pot of soup simmering on the stove.
Oh boy – now I’m hungry! Soup season is the best, and who can resist cornbread muffins to tag along?
I agree! Here in Florida, we natives get so excited every time temps drop even if it’s just 10 degrees like it’s supposed to this weekend. Either way, soups somehow find their way into the menu even if we have to turn down the AC. 🙂
Great roundup! Thanks for including mine. The White Bean Chicken Chili looks so good and I have got to try those muffins!
I’m so excited cool weather is finally upon us (ok so it was 85 here yesterday, but that was a fluke lol)
you take the most beautiful pictures of soup Amy!!!! Great round up!!
I could use a bowl of each of these – yum!
In the cold weather, soup is my favorite meal! Thanks for sharing so many delicious recipes!
Now I am hungry and I still have two hours until lunch. Love them all!!
I made cornbread for the first time last year and it was a big hit. I’ve got to try adding cheese and jalapenos to it!
I love soup and stew on chilly nights, especially those that are easy to put together. 🙂
I’ll be back for these recipes. Quite a nice collection!
Now getting ready for soups…this morning has enough chill in the air to think about cooking them. One of my favorites is an Italian Onion Soup. I cook an entire bag of onions overnight in the crockpot and then it’s as simple as combining them with an easy to make stock recipe and topping with Parmesan. I do love a great French Onion soup…but this is so much easier and doable on a regular basis.
I haven’t had breakfast yet but am now craving a bowl of soup. Your Sweet Potato Soup with walnut pesto in fact!
I am welcoming fall and the cooler temperatures with open arms! These are awesome recipes! I love all your photos!
I have my soup spoon, butter, and gigantic mug in hand! Yay for Fall!!
