Simple S’mores

S’mores are a regular treat around here this time of the year. We try to keep a stash of graham crackers, chocolate and marshmallows ready to go for impromptu get togethers. Taking the party outside around a bonfire works well, but the weather doesn’t always cooperate, does it? For those times, I decided to try an alternative and make s’mores in the oven. It certainly doesn’t measure up to sitting around a cozy bonfire, roasting marshmallows, watching sparks swirl from the flames. But it’s a close second, and pretty simple too.
Begin by laying out the graham crackers on a baking sheet. Leave them whole or break them in half for smaller serving sizes. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the graham crackers, and place in oven for a few minutes to melt chocolate.
Using a spatula, spread the melted chocolate chips evenly across the graham crackers.
Top with mini marshmallows and broil in oven until they begin to brown.
Remove from oven, then cut or break into individual pieces. They’re best when warm, but I did make a batch for my kids for an after school snack and re-warmed them individually in the microwave for a few seconds. They were a hit around here. Ooey gooey goodness!
Enjoy!

A simple indoor alternative to making s'mores using the oven.

- Turn oven to broil.
- Sprinkle top with marshmallows and broil in oven for about 1 minutes or until marshmallows begin to slightly brown. Watch carefully to avoid burning.
Perfect idea 🙂 Are you gonna make these for us in TX? Oh yeah, we get the real deal there!
These look dangerous!
LOOOOVE this idea, Amy!!
These look perfect! I’ll have a few with a mug of hot chocolate:-)
Would you believe I never had a s’more until a couple years ago? Clearly I had no idea what I was missing!
YUM, great idea! 🙂
I love these! Super simple and super delish!
This passes my only test for s’more treats. That marshmallow has to be browned or even charred a bit. Desserts with melted marshmallows or fluff just don’t do it for me. There has to be SOME recreation of the campfire!
Love it! I’ve made individual ones in the microwave, but the marshmallows just don’t get that yummy almost-burned look and taste. 🙂
Super cute idea for a chilly fall day! LOVE the little marshmallows.
I could face-plant that sheet. HOLY…
I’ve done this before but BE CAREFUL!! I had a few of the marshmallows catch on fire and then all of them did and it was just scary and choatic. I’d say keep the pan as far away for the broiling element as possible and stand guard. This is an excelent recipe until you end up with a campfire in your kitchen!
Genius!
Do you think it would be too much if I had this for breakfast, lunch and supper? Good gravy, those look fabulous!
ha! omg i love it. I miss s’mores
I can see why those would be a big hit, I’m dying for a piece after seeing those pictures!
These are so fun and elegant looking… let’s make them in December together!
Think I could eat about that entire sheet of yumminess!
This is the best idea ever!
I love simple stuff like this! So yummy 🙂
