Thank you for visiting. This series has ended.
When I began this site, my main reason was as a creative push for me to regularly make pictures, from the daily, the mundane, what we’re eating, silly observations, to bugs, flowers, places we visit…whatever caught my eye. But somewhere along the way, I lost sight of that. Recently I realized that I’ve been making fewer pictures of what I wanted to, or what inspires, and instead only taking pictures of what I needed, or felt I had to for one reason or another, whether it be a professional commitment, or some burden I had placed on myself.
So, in an effort to get back to the reason I started this online journey, I’m inviting you to join me for a weekly photo party of sorts that will be called Share the Shot. I think it will spark me on to be more intentional about picking up my camera and taking time to make pictures for fun again. I hope it will do the same for you. Plus, it will be even more better knowing we’re doing it together.
Here’s how Share the Shot will work:
- Each Tuesday I’ll post a new photo theme. Then you’ll be given a week to make photos, and the following Tuesday, a week later, anyone who wants to participate, from the beginner to the experienced, can link to their photo(s). It can be one single photo, a series of photos, or photo album.
- You don’t have to have a website to participate. You can link from another html, maybe a site where you store your photos, like Flickr. Really, any way you can share an html link (as long as it’s proper for all audiences) should work.
- You don’t have to be a professional with a fancy camera either. I’m hoping some younger, brand spanking new photographers may join in too. I know I’ll be encouraging my son and daughter to participate. And I’m looking forward to seeing some phone photography too, or whatever you call that.
- If you can’t participate each week, that’s fine too. Join in when you can. It’s not intended to be a stressor, but a fun activity to help get you motivated to make new pictures.
No special instructions. No special requirements. Just Share the Shot.
(Again, those images appropriate for all audiences.)
The first series of photo themes will be simple. We’ll be exploring the full spectrum, one color at a time.
The first assignment is…
Create your interpretation, usage, or blue inspirations.
That’s it. That’s all I’m going to say. I don’t want to influence your thinking on this at all. Be creative and have fun. Make some pictures!
Again, this first assignment, “blue,” begins Tuesday, February 14, 2012, with link ups to share your creations beginning next Tuesday, February 21, 2012. And remember, Share the Shot is open for all to join – all ages, all experience levels.
I hope to see you next week, Tuesday, February 21, 2012. I’ll open the linkup for the results of this first assignment early that morning for you to Share the Shot. See you then!
