Easy Fall Decorations

Seasons change. They do. And with the change comes new colors and textures. Some of that color made it’s way indoors for use in arrangements and table decor for Easy Fall Decorations.

Today I was happy to host a birthday brunch for a few friends. While each of them were in their own homes preparing a dish to share, I ran out to the yard to find some of that seasonal color to bring indoors. I so much enjoy sprucing up the house for entertaining with what we have on hand. Whether it’s herbs from the garden, blossoms from a bush, or even bare branches, it’s always nice to bring the outdoors in, and not to mention economical too. Decorating for entertaining does not have to be expensive and fancy.

Over the years I’ve collected a variety of vases, jars, baskets and other vessels to keep on hand for homemade arrangements. They’re nothing fancy. No cut glass here, folks. Some I have found for a few dollars, others are what I would consider keepsakes, while still others were absolutely free. What many may consider junk. They’ve come in mighty handy over and over again, saving both time and money.

For the birthday brunch, I collected a variety of tree branches with colorful leaves, along with some bright grape vine that likes to wander and mingle amongst our woods. I filled basic clear vases with the branches of vibrant leaves. So simple, yet so festive.

The table was covered with a basic monotone table cloth, runner and placemats of natural linen. A single old weathered board salvaged from a barn down the road was placed in the center and topped with a bit of the grape vine and some squash picked up from our local grocer.

It was a basic centerpiece, but perfect for our casual get-together. I wanted to keep the centerpiece low so we could chat and visit without peering through or around stuff.

DIY No-sew homemade table cloth tip: A couple of years ago I purchased inexpensive linen (or linen looking) fabric from a local fabric store.

The table cloth used here is straight off the bolt. The fabric was cut to the appropriate length. The edges were not hemmed but instead, as I sat watching TV one night, I frayed all of the edges. An inexpensive option for a large table cloth. An oh so easy!

So, if you’re planning on entertaining or setting an Autumnal table, maybe for Thanksgiving, look outside before heading to the store for Easy Fall Decorations like these.
