Celebrating Hope

Today our daughter, Hope, turns fifteen. That means she can learn to drive a car.
On the road.
Where other cars drive.
And big trucks.
And motorcycles.
And motorcycle gangs.
And farmers on their tractors…
It seems like only yesterday we brought her home from the hospital.
And it seems like only yesterday when she was relegated to the back seat of the car, strapped in a car seat.
Now she’s gonna be driving a car? How can that be? What happened? The years have passed by much too quickly. They have. I’ve heard it all my life, but when the reality of it hits, it’s quite another thing altogether.
But no time to fret. Today is her day. And while I’d like to be teaching her how to color within the lines, instead of drive between the lines, we celebrate her life and what a beautiful young lady, inside and out, that she’s become.
From a very young she’s been bright eyed, and full of life.
She was so excited and proud to become a big sister.
She likes to laugh, and sing, and has a good attitude about trying out new things. Like driving cars.
She’s a book worm too. Many, many books have been read over the years.
Hope has grown from a sweet little girl…
Into a charming, talented and fun-loving young lady.
So today we celebrate.
We celebrate with smiles and laughter. And cake.
Today we celebrate another year of Hope.
Happy 15th sweet child of mine!
And don’t forget to fasten your seat belt. It’s gonna be a great ride!
Hope is blessed to have such a special Mama! Look at what a beautiful daughter you’ve raised. And talented. And sweet. Amy, you did good as my Daddy used to tease.
I pray Hope has a very special 15th birthday and many, many more blessed birthdays to come.

Wow, 15 years, imagine that! She is absolutely gorgeous. Happy birthday Hope! Have an amazing year ahead.
Happy birthday! She’s the same age as me now 😀
I remember! The whole weekend it took her to arrive in this world – the parties – her climbing tree in our yard – the personality – not talking on the phone (that has now changed) – the talent – her loving family. I could go on, but HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY HOPE! Amy, beautiful blog. Thanks!
She is beautiful! Happy birthday to Hope!

Why am I bawling like a baby? Thanks for that.

Aww, I almost cried reading the post! You have got such a GORGEOUS daughter (well, ofcourse she’s your daughter!)Your photographs made me imagine what my 1 yr old would look like in and be like in 14 yrs 🙁 Arn’t they precious?
Happy birthday Hope! (Gorgeous name too!)
I’m verklempt! I can only imagine how important this post will be for your daughter in another 5 years. Thank you for sharing this moment of celebration with your “friends”. Hugs to you!
Happy Birthday to you and to Hope and you’ve surely reminded me how time flies. I can remember those baby photos and birthday pics. The giddy anticipation of driving while I’m, well, not so giddy at the prospect.
And now mine turned 27 last week; all grown up but still my little girl. I wonder the same, guess we always will…how did that happen? Where did time go?
You are beautiful Hope and so is your mom!
What an amazing and beautiful daughter! It did make me cry-my baby girl is 23, and about to enter the Air Force and medical school-I see her twice a year, if I’m lucky-I’d tell you to cherish your time with your daughter, but you obviously do!
Happy Belated Birthday, Hope! Yes, the years fly by, but aren’t they fun while we’re living them? Hold on for the crazy ride. (Teaching one to drive is no easy accomplishment. Be prepared for heart-stopping moments. Literally.) Hope you all had a great day celebrating.
