A friendly reminder.

If you we’re to walk in my bathroom right now, you’d find this lipstick smiley face on my mirror, probably along with a pile of dirty clothes too. I’m a scatter brain a lot of the time. Always have been. Lately it seems to be more frequent. If you haven’t read this yet, here’s proof. Let’s hope it’s just a phase that will pass on by, and quick!
This little lipstick smiley face is a friendly reminder for me to take my vitamins.
I can’t remember for the life of me to take them, but this little trick is right there smiling back at me every time I brush my teeth. It’s simple. Another form of a sticky I suppose.
When my kids were young, my daughter had trouble learning the letter “K.” We tried every song, book, exercise to help her learn. But they just didn’t work. Finally I decided that repetion of recognition would help. So I grabbed some cheap lipstick and drew a large “K” on a couple of our bathroom mirrors. While she brushed her teeth, or washed her hands, or fixed her hair, the pink “K” was there staring her back in the face. It worked like a charm. She can now spell all kinds of words with “K.”
Kool.
This lipstick trick can be used for all sorts of things: memorization of poems or verses, daily reminders, words of encouragement, learning letters or numbers, mini lessons for many things. Can you think of some?
Just make sure to use cheap lipstick or an old tube you’re planning on tossing or that could be an expensive reminder.
Do you have any helpful tips for remembering things around the house or your work place?
Do tell.
Such a sweet idea. I used to write, “Your Mama and God love you!” on Little Buddy’s mirror. His Daddy added his name, too and then my Mama and so on and so on. I wish I hadn’t cleaned that mirror now.
fun tip Amy! I’ve wanted to do this with Bible verses, but kept forgetting. ha, I need a reminder for the reminder!
I love your lipstick smiley face: #1 Because it’s lipstick and #2 Because it’s a smiley face
Such a great idea!!
So smart! And Cute. And important! Thanks girl!
P.S. Kool. Love it.
Stinkin cute! 🙂 I leave notes for my girls with sticky notes, I like the lip stick much better!
I am a list girl. My newest tool is to use Evernote on my computer and phone. Saves the day! xo
Hey Michelle!
I’ve had Evernote for a while but have yet to use it. Going to check it out now, before I forget anything real important.

That’s so awesome, Amy! Love it and I love your new look. 🙂
We write a lot of notes to each other on our bathroom mirrors but use dry erase markers instead as they just wipe off without washing. I can’t imagine my boys wanting to use lipstick but my daughter would think it is amazing! 🙂
Hey Suzanne!
Dry erase markers! A handy idea! Although ours seem to always be dry. But would be fun to use many colors!

What a clever idea! Sounds like a fun thing to do with your children – definitely something my neat-freak mom would never have done 🙂
that is much sweeter than the yelling that goes on in this house.
besides yelling we use post its…pretty boring and generic and if I do say so, ineffective.
lipstick smiley faces must happen.
It isn’t really a tip for reminding myself, but there have been many times that I have taken a call for Hubs upstairs and not had pen and paper to jot down a number. Lipstick or eyeliner on the bathroom mirror works every time. 🙂 Love the idea of “K” for your daughter and the smile to take your vitamins.
LOL…I love your lipstick smiley. Ummm…if I had tips or tricks I wouldn’t be loosing my cookies 24-7 🙂 I may borrow yours though.
That is such a great tip! I have the worst time remembering to take my vitamins too, so I am definitely going to try the lipstick trick 🙂
great idea, I ran out of lipstick when writing one day and now use white board markers, all over my house you may see reminders written with them, mirrors counter tops and I even manage to write some on the white board 🙂
you’re a good mama – i’m lucky if i remember to brush my hair let alone anything else . . . and how funny is it that i don’t remember any types of tricks for remembering things . . . oh well, guess i’ll just draw a smiley face on the mirror as a reminder that i’ve forgotten something . . .
You are so cute! 🙂 And so is that lipstick smily!
Thanks for the reminder! I had forgotten to give my son his medicine tonight.
I love this. I would put an inspirational phrase like “Today is a gift, so enjoy it. That’s why it’s called the present!” haha.
Such a cute idea! Do you think it could help me remember where I put my car keys? 🙂
My mom always said BKTE as we walked out the door, now I say it to not only my own precious ones, but whenever I teach (I’m a sub for elementary) I add it to the chalkboard! Any guesses?
Hey Lixinwfb,
None at all. Curious. Do tell.

Be Kind To Everyone! BKTE!
