Have leftover ham? Make these super easy Grilled Pineapple Ham Kabobs for a main dish or for the perfect party appetizer.
Most holidays here in the South involve ham, and one of my favorite hams is a spiral cut ham. So when Smithfield contacted me about trying one of their Smithfield Signature Spiral Sliced Hams and to create a recipe using wonderful leftover ham, I was more than delighted. While leftovers aren’t my favorite, leftover ham is such a great addition to so many recipes.
Of course a sandwich with leftover ham, mustard and mayonnaise always hits the spot, but why not try something new and different with the leftovers? Something as easy as a sandwich? What about kabobs? Grilled Pineapple Ham Kabobs to be exact. A perfect kabob marriage, if you ask me. Plus, they were super quick to prepare, and only required two ingredient: the leftover ham and pineapple chunks.
The skewers were easily assembled in under five minutes, and the grill time wasn’t much more than that. So quick! So easy. The pineapple juice can be reserved and used to baste the kabobs as they grill for extra sweetness too. Serve kabobs with a honey mustard dipping sauce or other favorite dipping sauce.
I made a few smaller ones that would be perfect for a party appetizer or a hearty finger food. These would be a superb party food since the kabobs can be assembled ahead of time by a day or two, then refrigerated until ready to grill.
So the next time you have ham, save some leftovers for this quick and easy recipe.

Okay, I’m gonna have to tell you that it’s a little freaky that I’ve had a very similar recipe floating around in my head for some time now!!! These are awesome!
Hi Amy I tried the pineapple ham kabobs using fresh pineapple and Smithfield ham . When they were done I put them in a pan and covered them with aluminum foil to keep them warm . 15 minutes later when it was time to eat the ham had become so mushy that it fell off the kabob. I have tried using thicker cuts of ham with the same results. Is the fresh pineapple that much more acidic then canned pineapple?
