With the Super Bowl right around the corner I’m taking time to plan ahead for our menu. Usually I tend to wait until the last minute which results in unhealthy choices. So, this year, with a bit of thought, I’m going for a touchdown with a lineup of healthier, but not tasteless, selections.
When Pepperidge Farm® contacted me about trying their new Baked Naturals® Cracker Chips as part of a game day menu challenge, it encouraged me even more to plan creatively, so we can tastefully enjoy the game without totally fumbling in the fat department.
Pepperidge Farm® sent me a variety of the new Baked Naturals® Cracker Chips to try, including Simply Multi-Grain, and two new flavors, Simply Potato, and Cheddar & Sour Cream Potato. I’m really liking the Cheddar & Sour Cream Potato. They’re light and crispy. And because they’re baked and never fried, they’re lower in fat per serving than the leading potato chip – 50% less fat! 50%! See that small wooden bowl shown above filled with the Cheddar & Sour Cream Potato? That’s not even a whole serving size, so you get a good portion per serving size. And that’s a good thing when you’ve got the munchies.
Next week I’ll be posting my final menu selection, along with some handy tips for making healthy snacking choices, but would really like to hear from you now as I’m still planning myself.
Do you have any great tasting and lower-fat game-time favorites?
What about ideas and tips for making good snacking decisions?
Do you have creative decorating ideas for the big game?
Do share. I so much enjoy hearing ideas from everyone!
I am being compensated by Pepperidge Farm® for my time and materials used in the Pepperidge Farm® Baked Naturals® Cracker Chips menu challenge.
I’ve got some yummy menu items planned, too, plus I love their chips! So light and flavorful. I’d replace these any day over chips! Love the pix, Amy. I didn’t get to try the third kind (red package). 🙂
Goodness those chips look mighty tasty! Making game day lighter means having more interesting veg (pickled anything!) and less dips around (cuz I am SUCH a dip kinda girl) . . . Might have to give these a try!
Ha! “Going for a touchdown…”! I like making a black bean dip with chopped veggies! It’s delicious!
one of my favorite things is making dips that usually call for sour cream with really thick and creamy greek yogurt…you’d never know the difference and it’s so much better for you!
Goodness! These look so good! I need to pick some of these up! I know we’d love ’em.
Love baked chips and use them whenever I can. I’ve tried to make my own baked tortilla chips but they’re not the best homemade.
Oh my we eat all sorts of fattening unhealthy stuff on game day…but our favorite is Roasted Shrimp Cocktail…it’s gone in a flash! i will be posting the recipe on my blog soon!
(amy I would love for you to stop by friday and link up to my Meals 4 Sharing link-up. hope to see you there ; ))
I haven’t seen these in the stores… going to have to keep my eyes open next time. They look perfectly crunchy and delicious!
I really like providing baked options for my family rather than the typical fried chips. They look like they’d go great with some hummus!
When I read your title I totally read it as “Big Game” in terms of a Big Game Hunt and I was SO excited! But now that I understand you meant Superbowl I am STILL excited, as I have not had these before! Thanks girl!
I haven’t seen these yet, but they look fantastic!
These would be good with guacamole! It’s higher in fat, but still has lots of healthy virtues to make up for it. 🙂
Tomato based dips would be a healthier choice, homemade salsa or a pizza-like dip would be great!
