Thanksgiving’s right around the corner? How can that be?!? Time flies much too fast these days. It ain’t fair I say. Not one bit. But what’s a girl to do…
Well, for starters, get your ducks in a row and start planning what to put with that turkey. Here’s a no-brainer, if you’re planning on sweet potatoes for your spread, Scalloped Sweet Potatoes, another delectable recipe from Tasty Kitchen.
It’s a savory take on sweet potatoes and a side that shouldn’t be saved just for holiday tables.
It’s good stuff y’all. And I’m not even a big sweet potato fan. You can find the recipe over at Tasty Kitchen along with a full photo recipe tutorial by missamy (that’s me!). Check it out!
Hey! Before you go, what’s your favorite side dish for Thanksgiving? I’d love to try something new!

I was so excited to see these – I have never seen scalloped sweet potatoes! My favorite dish is stuffing though.
Holy WOW!! These sound amazing!!! I can’t wait to try them!
Oh MY! Those look delicious!
one of our favorites from last year is a creamy celery root soup – totally vegan using soaked cashews and truly one of the most glorious soups i’ve ever, every eaten!! stunning and easy!

Oh my god. I saw this. I think I nearly died. You just killed me twice!
Oh goodness those potatoes are calling my name Amy!! Can’t wait to see you TOMORROW!!!
I’m intrigued enough to give it a try.
My favorite side is a sweet potato casserole.
I love your photos. You’re an awesome photographer.
Gosh these look luscious – all that melted cheese. As Brit I may find an excuse to celebrate Thanksgiving this year!
I’m telling you right now you need to have a photography class! You are so talented love. That looks so decadent!
What a great idea! I can’t wait to try this.
I’m a huge sweet potato fan and know that I would absolutely love these. They look absolutely incredible.
Amy – can we feature these on babble? awesome – email me!
Brilliant! I love sweet potatoes and thought I already had covered all possible bases on how to cook them. Apparently not. I can’t wait to try this wonderful idea. Tomorrow. Morning. As soon as the stores open.
This looks great. I am not a sweetened up sweet potato fan. My favorite way of cooking them is to roast 3 or 4 sweet potatoes whole until they are fork tender. When they are cool enough to handle, scoop out the flesh and smush it up with a potato masher. Stir in some butter (2T to a full stick depending on your taste), a tablespoon of maple syrup and one chipotle pepper in adobo sauce that has been finely chopped. Taste and add salt if necessary. It’s a great make ahead dish (I do this the night before thanksgiving) but remember that the pepper will intensify if you hold it.
Oh I love sweet potatoes!! I need to make these…they look delicious!
This looks AMAZING! We are celebrating Thanksgiving with friends here on Bainbridge Island this year. I wonder if I need to take this scrump dish!
Looks luscious!
Delighted to find your blog!
xo
For past couple Thanksgivings I have been in charge of the potato dish. Normally I’ve made my family “famous” Individual Potato Gratin cups, which are a huge hit. Check them out:

SO this year I’m SUPER excited to say I’m gonna use your recipe for scalloped sweet potatoes! But I’m gonna make them my way… in a muffin pan! Perfect for big parties. Check back to blog in a couple of weeks and I’ll show you how it turned out!
these look awesome. I think I’m going to have to try them. I am forced into making sweet potatoes that tasted like french toast every year, because my family (not my kids) have come to expect them. I think I may change it up a little this year with these yummy looking things. Have you ever had horseradish mashed potatoes? I make those every year, those and roasted brussel sprouts. I try it make as much whole foods as humanly possible!!
Oh my good God in heaven. How did I miss this post? Yum!
So, we tried these, and although they were good, the amount of bacon and cheese totally covered the flavor of the sweet potatoes. I’m not a huge fan of super-sweet sweet potatoes, but this reminded me of the bible verse about hiding your light under a bushel. This recipe buried the true quality of sweet potatoes. 7 people had them from 3 generations in our family, and we all agreed that although they were good, they weren’t something any of us would request again. Sorry Amy, I normally ADORE your recipes.
I love sweet potatoes and can not wait to try this recipe!!
Our favorite thanksgiving dish is a sweet potato casserole and Cranberry Orange muffins. Both are listed at tastykitchen.com under ccsick. Both are a must have during both holidays.
