We enjoy going out to eat. But most of the time we realize after dropping more than a few bucks that we could’ve done better at home. But not tonight. Tonight we went to one of our favorite places in Greenville, SC, Lieu’s Chinese Bistro.
Lieu’s is one of those rare places where the owners and staff care about doing excellent work and they seem to enjoy what they do. You feel like they really want you to be there and want you to be happy. And let me tell ya, their great food and service, make me very happy.
This is a family favorite … the Seared Ahi Tuna appetizer.
(These photos don’t come close to doing Lieu’s justice. I’m not so good with a dark restaurant and no flash.)
And we tried this appetizer for the first time tonight … Seared Scallops. Oh my! (Yeah, you can tell we like seared stuff.) These were a special appetizer, not on the regular menu, but I sure hope they add it as a permanent selection.
This is one of my favorite entrees … Spicy Shrimp and Green Beans. I order mine mild, which they are more than happy to accommodate.
Here’s a spicy selection … Sichuan Salmon Fillet with garlic, shiitake mushrooms, pine nuts and some other good stuff.
You can check out their website and menu here which includes a full wine list. They have a great atmosphere (that’s somehow upscale and comfortable at the same time – family friendly too!), and superb and friendly service that’s hard to beat. It’s no wonder they maintain a loyal clientele who continue to sing their praises.
So if you’re in town or just passing through check out Lieu’s Chinese Bistro. They’re easy to find, located near I-85 and I-385 off of Woodruff Road in Greenville, SC. And be sure to check out their lunch specials.
Oh, and they have great iced tea too! Go figure.

Couldn’t agree more. Since we first visited Lieu’s, it has quickly become our favorite restaurant in Greenville. Not only is the food outstanding, their staff always goes out of their way to make sure you are pleased with your experience . . . they seem to have very little turnover. I typically have the Orange Peel Shrimp with a side of Crab Wontons; however, after looking at some of the new menu items highlighted on your blog, I might have to try something different on my next visit . . . hopefully later this week.
I have to agree with my husband on this. It is a great place! He loves it so much he would go every week if he could….and did for a short period of time. Then we went broke…just kidding! I have several favorites. The Spicy Green Beans and Shrimp, Cucumber Salad, Orange Peel Chicken…The Happy Family(and my kids and I split it…they love it!) Very well priced and family friendly!!
This is my kind of place! And your photos are so fantastic!
Dandy,
Hey thanks!
Amy
Lieu’s is our absolute favorite place to go when we have something special to celebrate! The service is always excellent. Vegetable fried rice (with brown rice) is not on the menu but if you ask for it they will make it and it’s a family favorite. Lunches are very reasonable if you want to give it a try! The food is made fresh and and specific to your requests. Give it a try, you won’t be sorry!
Oh, my I’m hungry now!
I eat a lot for a thirteen year old girl so when we go I stand up straighter, my theory is it stretches out your stomach and leaves more room for ahi tuna, fried rice, shrimp, and everything else they have there that’s happiness in the form of food. Oh and I have to save room for dessert afterward.
Hope (she who wears many hats daughter)
Just checkin’ on Yum Yum readin’ what people have to say and realized I’d not commented on the Lieu’s entry! I can’t believe I missed an opportunity to brag on one of my favorite places to eat. I love, love, love Lieu’s! So does the hubby and daughter. The food is absolutely delicious, the atmosphere wonderful and the service is always consistently excellent. If you’ve not been yet make it a priority. You’ll be so glad you did!
