A Christmas card display tree.

Is there a stack of Christmas cards you’ve received that you don’t know what to do with? Here’s a simple idea I started using a few years ago after seeing them stack up on my desk and not really enjoying the glad tidings people had spent time sending along our way.
I purchased a small pencil Christmas tree on deep discount at an after holiday sale for a small nook in our family room. It added a little something to an awkward, bare spot during the holidays.
It also offered a place to display those cards.
With a simple hole punch, scissors, and ribbon, I turned a plain tree into a Christmas card display, filled with greetings from family and friends, that I quite enjoy walking by several times a day.
You could even use a tree branch, painted or not, secured in a planter for the same purpose. Maybe you already have a little tree you can use for this exact purpose? If not, keep your eyes peeled at those after Christmas sales, and you can look forward to displaying those glad tiding next year.
So, do you have another creative way to display those greeting cards. Care to share ’em?
Creative solutions rock!
Such a brilliant idea!
That is so cute! I use an idea I think I saw in Real Simple a few years ago. I use that reusable craft sticky putty and apply rows of wide ribbon to the rear side of my kitchen cabinets that face the dining room. You could also do this on a wall or a door. The ribbons look festive by themselves, but then as the cards come in, I affix them to the ribbons with the sticky putty. They look a little more orderly than they would just haphazardly stuck to the wall and festive at the same time.
LOVE this!!!
Sorry for shouting that, I just got so excited.
Such a great idea. I am the same way with cards,,,I hate throwing them away but never know what to do with all of them!! I will be looking for a small tree after the holidays!!
Great idea for card sharing and displaying! Love it.
Darling idea!
What a brilliant solution…. your looks absolutely lovely!! Well done!
I love this, Amy!! We hang them on one of those ribbon boards, but I think I want to do this next year. So pretty!
we’re so boring and just display them on the mantle, but i’ve heard of card trees before! what a beautiful idea!
(p.s. SO excited i won those cookies :))
you are brilliant, you know that right? wait a minute . . . where’s Robyn???
Cute idea! We have a card holder that sits beside our mantle where cards are added when they come in. It’s a great place to keep them, but I sure love how you display yours. What a great idea!
Very cute idea! I have done something very similar for the last couple of year: I got a 9-foot piece of pre-lit garland and did the same thing around a large doorway from our living room into our dining room. It looks beautiful!
Great idea. Let me know if you see a tree like that on sale this year. The kids on that one card are beautiful! 🙂
Right now we have a card wall. It’s not very creative, but it serves the purpose of displaying the cards and not having them in the way. It’s in the kitchen and can be seen from the family room, too. I’ll have to keep my eyes peeled for one of those pencil trees.
Love this idea! Thank you! I needed this one TODAY! Just in time!
This is a great idea! We usually just pin long lengths of ribbon to the wall and staple the cards to them. But your idea is much prettier 🙂
LOVE this idea, Amy!!!
Love this idea and I LOVE that tree…my great aunt always had pencils trees, so I am especially fond of them.
Oh I love your card tree idea! Brilliant.
What a neat idea! We haven’t received many cards yet this year, but I do need to find a place to start displaying them…
