The Retreat Remodel No. 4 – New Kitchen Lighting from Barn Light Electric #diy

Our kitchen remodel is still underway. Much has been done, but there’s still much more to do, like hang open shelving, trim out cabinets, refinish floors, but we have lights! Since we’re functioning in our kitchen during the remodel, lights are kind of important. It may be a while until the final reveal, so I wanted to go ahead and share about our fun new lights now, just in case anyone still needs to add something special to that Christmas list, if you know what I mean. Nothing better than beginning a new year with super cool lights, huh?

The lights we chose are from Barn Light Electric, a US company located in Florida. I was originally introduced to Barn Light Electric by my friend Sommer, when I saw that she used them in her kitchen remodel last year. I contacted Betty from Barn Light Electric about working with them on our remodeling project. She’s been so very wonderful to work with—very helpful (and patient) with my indecisiveness. With such a great selection of lights, and so many colors, it’s not so easy to narrow it down. I’m thankful for Betty holding my hand.

Two Ivanhoe™ Sinclair Porcelain Pendants in jadite with putty cords (cords!) were selected for over the island, and a Goodrich™ Sinclair Porcelain Gooseneck Light for over the sink. They are so cool! Even though I’m such a fan of green—especially jadite green—I was worried about picking a color other than white, because I’m boring like that. But with all the woodsy wood that will be throughout the home, coupled with lighter walls and cabinets, I’m planning on pops of color to contrast the warmth. And these jadite lights couldn’t be more perfect for pops of color! Everyone who has seen them so far has complimented the style and color. I’m so happy with the decision.

Not only has Betty been super to work with, I quickly became a fan of the Barn Light Electric company after learning about their story. Barn Light Electric is an American company, run by real, down-to-earth people, with unique talent and vision. I do love creative artisans. I think you’ll see what I mean, if you visit the Barn Light Electric site to see the video about their company story.

I’d sure love to visit the shop one day and see the lights made in person. What a neat field trip it would make, don’t ya think?

Barn Light Electric not only offers a fine selection of kitchen lighting and other indoor and outdoor lighting, but they are now making these Porcelain Enamel Dinnerware too. I’ll be personally adding some of the nesting bowls to my wish list. So charming!

Do tell your friends that are in the market for lights (or bowls!) to mosey on over to the Barn Light Electric website and see what treasures are to be had.

I’m looking forward to sharing with you the end results of our kitchen remodel, and show you how the lights fit right in with the whole design. Until then, I’m back to nailing, sanding, painting …

xoxo
