Our Glidden® paint and MyColortopia.com room project is finished! Well, almost. I still have some pictures and artwork to hang, maybe add a fun accent rug, and there’s one more piece of wainscoting we’re trying to hunt down, but the biggest part of the improvements are done. Check out the wainscoting. When I showed my husband, Randy, the sample pictures I shared in the previous post, I told him to ignore the wainscoting/trim treatments, and to just pay attention to the color and overall feel of the rooms. He surprised me, and said he really liked the detail and would like to tackle the project. He has one little addition to add to the top of the wainscoting, but overall he’s finished. He’s pretty handy. Cool.

Color My Powder Room

Before I began, I spent a little time with MyColortopia.com tools from Glidden paint. First I chose some colors using the My Image Inspiration tool, then saved them to the MyColortopia.com Project Folder.

Next, using the Color My Room tool, I uploaded a picture of the powder room, then outlined the section I wanted to “virtually paint,” and tried a few of the colors from my project folder.

I finally settled on “Wood Smoke” for the area above the wainscoting, with a crisp “White on White” to match the trim in our home for the wainscoting. The MyColortopia.com tools were a great starting place for me to narrow down all the colors and ideas swirling in my mind.

Next, I headed to the store buy paint and supplies. The closest Glidden supplier to us is Home Depot, which made it a really easy one stop, as my husband had to pick up a few other things he needed to finish out the wainscoting, while I picked out the paint. I fully expected to get to the store and change my mind on the main color, “Wood Smoke,” once I saw the swatch in person, but I was happy with the original choice and bought a gallon of Glidden DUO™ Paint + Primer Eggshell for the wall color above the wainscoting, and a gallon of “White on White” of the Glidden DUO™ Paint + Primer Semi-Gloss for the wainscoting. The helpful Home Depot paint professional had it matched and mixed in no time.

The paint went on marvelously with one coat, plus a few touch ups here and there. We’re totally pleased with the results. As I said, I have a little shopping to do for finishing touches, but happy with our new powder room.

Be sure to check out the MyColortopia.com color tools from Glidden® paint before you begin your next painting project. It’s easy and fun, plus it cuts down on time and frustration when trying to choose your perfect color.

Happy painting, y’all!
